The legendary Kamakura Dojo was founded (1981) by the 3 Gordeau Brothers. In an old 1920's schoolbuilding they build the world famous Kamakura Dojo with the Kamakura style. Kyokushin Karate (World Oyama Karate), Thaiboxing, Kickboxing, Jujutsu, Nunchaku, Fitness, Boxing, Wrestling and BJJ, they had it all. In the building were several Dojo's, locker-rooms, showers, bedrooms and even a sauna. It was the home for many fighters not only in the Netherlands but also worldwide. People came there to train or spar. Besides many Kyokushin Karate champions, also big names in K1 trained in Honbu Kamakura. K1 fighters like Mourad Bouzidi, Rico Verhoeven, Ernesto Hoost, Peter Aerts and Daniel Ghita. UFC fighters and Mma fighters like Freek Hamaker, Edmunds Kirsis and of course Kancho Gordeau himself. Kyokushin and Ful Contact Karate fighters like: Idu Faroek, Ed Heskens Murat Agar, Mano de Kok, Danny Juffermans, Kees De Roode, Cem Senol, Al Gordeau, Nico Gordeau, Aslan Sarac, Lammert Meinema, Dimitri Sennema, Frits Volmuller, Robert Pepels and many other students. Also the members of Dutch rockband "Direct", en Dutch hiphop group "Nuclear", got private lessons at Kamakura. Also officers from the Interpol international police organization trained at Kamakura.

Kamakura Honbu Dojo The Hague is the Honbu Dojo not only of the International Budokai Organization, but also from the other Kamakura Dojo's. Dojo's in the Netherlands, Greece, Latvia, Russia, Limburg, Romania and Italia that belong to the Kamakura franchise.
Every year Honbu Kamakura hosted the Open European Kyokushin Karate Championships in The Hague. An unique tournament renowed for its brutal way of Kyokushin Kumite in a boxing ring, not on a tatami. Besides many famous Karate fighters worldwide, also other martial artist competed, some famous, some lost in time. Bob Schrijber, Gilbert Ballantine, Gilbert Yvel, Ivan Hipolyt and Irma Verhoeff.
For many years Kamakura Dojo and the IBK hosted the anual Kamakura beach event. And the anual Kamakura summer BBQ and the anual Kamakura Christmas Party. Events that have been around for decades, and still are.

In te nearby future, Kamakura Honbu Dojo The Hague will get a new building at the Laan Van Poot complex. A new Dojo with a Martial Arts museum.
